The Evaluation Process/Resolving Transfer Credit Issues

Based on transfer credit policies, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for the initial review and determination of the transfer credit to IUPUI. As part of the review of an application, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will review courses taken at other colleges and/or universities and determine what transfer credits can be awarded. In order to have transcripts formally reviewed, a student must first apply for undergraduate degree-seeking admission and submit official transcripts from each college and/or university he or she has attended after high school. If he or she has received college credit while attending high school, he or she still needs to submit a transcript from the college awarding the course credits. IUPUI will not award credit recorded on a transcript from an institution other than the institution where the credit was originally earned. As part of your formal admission, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will review the courses completed, and post the transfer credit on your record once you are admitted to the University. Your courses taken at another institution will be posted to your transfer credit report, located in the Student Center of your OneStart account. Please review the document "Reviewing Your Online Transfer Credit Report" for more details on how your credits have transferred to IUPUI.

How to Resolve Credit Transfer Issues:

  • You would like a review of coursework that does not have a direct equivalency to an IUPUI course or General Education competency

  • You would like to take a course another institution and have pre-approval

  • Your initial course evaluation is missing credit, or credit was awarded incorrectly

Review of coursework that does not have a direct equivalency page

Initiate this process if you would like to have undistributed credit considered for equivalency to an IUPUI course or General Education Competency. Please note you should only submit this form to request a Gen Ed competency if you began as a transfer student at IUPUI in fall 2014 or later. Generally, a course(s) appears in the student record as undistributed credit or nontransferable, and the submission involves an academic/curriculum review. Note: This process must be initiated by your academic advisor. Before initiating the request, please gather information about the course, including a syllabus, course description and/or textbooks used as this will help your advisor expedite the request.
