IUPUI Intercampus Transfer Students
The Intercampus Transfer Process
The process for transferring between Indiana University campuses is typically quick and easy. Students are considered intercampus transfers so long as they attended another IU campus in a degree program, and did not complete a bachelor's degree, regardless if they attended any other institutions since the last time they attended IU. Whether you are looking for a change of scenery, or if you are in a program that requires you to take classes at IUPUI, we're here to help you through the process.
Please note, students looking to permanently transfer to IUPUI from another Indiana University campus must have at least 26 credits of academic work completed. Students who have less than 26 credit hours completed must also provide their high school transcript.
Determine Your Status
- Permanent Intercampus Transfer
If you have attended another Indiana University campus as a degree-seeking student and have not completed your first undergraduate degree, the process is different than transferring from another school.
Applying as a Permanent Intercampus Transfer student is much different than applying as a student who has never attended an Indiana University campus. Once you complete the electronic application, our office will evaluate your application and academic record. You will then receive a formal letter through the U.S. Mail, to the address you put on your application, detailing what steps you need to take next.
When completing the application, make sure to list every college and university you have attended. If you have attended another college (but did not complete a bachelor's degree) outside the Indiana University system, you must provide us with an official copy of your transcripts. We will not be able to process your application until all of this documentation has been received.
If you have an IU cumulative Grade Point Average below 2.0 or were previously dismissed from the university, it is important to realize there may be additional steps you will need to take prior to your admission decision. In such cases, please apply by September 15 for Spring admission or March 1 for Fall admission.

- Temporary Intercampus Transfer
If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate Indiana University program at another IU campus, and wish to transfer to IUPUI for the summer or a single Fall/Spring semester but complete your degree at your current IU campus, you will be a Temporary Intercampus Transfer.
Your first step is to complete the Temporary Intercampus Transfer form. Once you have submitted the form, the Office of the Registrar will establish your eligibility to enroll at IUPUI. You will receive information by email regarding your status.
