Ivy Tech Transfer Tips
If you plan to transfer from Ivy Tech to IUPUI, you want to choose the best academic program for you and get the most from your transferable credit. This checklist can help you in your transfer process.
- Identify your transferable courses using the Passport web site.
- Check out the 2 + 2 associate-to-bachelor degree programs. If you have an A.S. or A.A.S. degree, talk to an advisor about how your credits will transfer in a 2 + 2 program.
- Consider all options. The Bachelor of General Studies and the B.S. in Organizational Leadership and Supervision programs are open to associate degree graduates in any academic major and may be able to transfer most of your credits. Also, health professionals have many options in the School of Allied Health and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
- Research and ask for help. Gather information to make the best decision. Call the IUPUI Admissions Center and specific Schools or Departments for publications. Read their web pages. Talk with faculty and academic advisors at Ivy Tech and IUPUI. Call Passport at 278-4545. Find out as much a possible about the degree program(s) you're considering.
- Apply early. Fill out an IUPUI transfer student application and find out about financial aid and scholarships. You don't need to send a paper transcript, since Ivy Tech and IUPUI share student records on-line.
- Prove your competencies. If you've taken a non-transferable course, but you think you have mastered the material in a similar IUPUI course, ask the department head if you may apply for credit by examination.
- Be confident. Ivy Tech students who transfer to IUPUI are generally well prepared, motivated and successful.
