Welcome From the Director
Thank you for visiting IUPUI’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If I had a word to describe the IUPUI experience, it would be “connections” - connections between our campus and the city, our students and faculty, our graduates and the workplace. Of course, I could use several other words to describe IUPUI - dynamic, energetic, opportunity, challenging impact, just to name a few - but above all of these, our students are increasingly connected with each other, the local community, and the world. Whether it’s engaging in the classroom, a casual chat over a cup of coffee in the Campus Center, or collaborating with students in another country with world-class technology, our students have the opportunity to make the connections that will benefit them, not only in their studies here, but in the world after they graduate.
If you haven’t been to IUPUI recently, you might be surprised by what you see here. We are Indiana's urban research university with over 200 undergraduate programs, and with over 20 highly-ranked academic schools including the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, the Kelley School of Business, the Herron School of Art and Design, and the IU School of Nursing, students can find something for almost every interest. And then, with Indianapolis being the economic heart of Indiana, our students can expand their classroom to include all the benefits of the 12th largest city in the United States. Thanks to strategic partnerships and alliances between the University and business and community leaders around the city, our students can build, or enhance their resume through internships, practicums, volunteer, and work experiences, all while they are pursuing their degree.
If you haven’t already visited IUPUI, I encourage you to do so. Our campus sits on the banks of the great canal walk and is a 10 minute walk from fantastic places like the NCAA Hall of Champions, the Indianapolis Zoo, the White River Botanical Gardens, the Eiteljorg Museum, and the IMAX Theatre. Or if you’re into sporting events, Lucas Oil Stadium (home of the World Champion Indianapolis Colts and the 2012 Super Bowl), Victory Field (home of the Indianapolis Indians), and Conseco Fieldhouse (home of the Indiana Pacers) are all within a short walk or even shorter bus ride. If you are looking for a metropolitan atmosphere, you can be in downtown Indy in less time to go to fabulous restaurants, shopping, theatres, coffee houses, and much more!
If you are a prospective student, I understand that you have a world of options when looking at colleges and universities, but I think you’ll find that IUPUI offers our students a wealth of opportunity and excitement. I hope you do find that IUPUI has everything you are looking for, and I encourage you to take the next step and visit our campus and apply!
Sincerely,
Chris J. Foley, Director of Undergraduate Admissions
